Timothy Turnquist, a graduate student in the Department of History, will give the talk "The Jewish Elephant in the Room: 'Non-Aryan' Catholic Refugees from Nazism and Intergenerational Jewish Identity" on April 15 at 12:00 p.m. in the Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center.
The Harris Center for Judaic Studies will be offering a kosher deli lunch to participants as a soft launch of the new Kosher Kitchen, under the supervision of the Vaad HaKashrut of Omaha. The University of Nebraska–Lincoln will begin offering kosher meals on campus in the fall semester.
"I hope people will come to hear about Tim's fascinating research, to learn a little bit about our plans for kosher dining at UNL, and to enjoy this kosher deli experience," Ari Kohen, director of the center and Schlesinger Professor of Social Justice in the Department of Political Science, said.
The event is sponsored by the generosity of center donors. Registration is required by April 12 to ensure enough food is available.
