The Jewish Federation of Omaha has organized "The Three Chairs," a series of lectures featuring three endowed chairs in Jewish Studies in Nebraska. Ari Kohen, director of the Norman and Bernice Harris Center for Judaic Studies, will speak on Dec. 3 at 6 p.m.
The lectures will take place at the Alan J. Levine Performing Arts Theater in Omaha, and each event will include time for the audience to engage directly with the scholars.
Kohen, who is also Schlesinger Professor of Social Justice in the Department of Political Science, will make the case for civil discourse across difference, not only as a tool for surviving disagreement, but for strengthening the communities that hold it.
Marat Grinberg, the Klutznick Chair in Jewish Civilization at Creighton University, will open the series on Sept. 29, and Omri Senderowicz, Director of the Schwalb Center for Israel and Jewish Studies at the University of Nebraska- Omaha, will speak on Nov. 4.
