Professor Pamela Potter, University of Wisconsin-Madison, speaking on a chapter of her new book, Art of Suppression: Confronting the Nazi Past in Histories of the Visual and Performing Arts, in which she deals with the influence of exiles from Nazi Germany on perceptions of Nazi Culture. She will focus explicitly on how many of the German-Jewish exiles play out the struggles of defining their identities in shaping these perceptions that still inform our writing of history. Lecture in Forensic Archaeology: Next April, Caroline Sturdy Colls, an archaeologist from Britain, who is well known for her work identifying and documenting the remains of Nazi concentration camps, will be spending a week lecturing to us/UNL and area universities. She will be with us for a few days. During that time she will present a public lecture on Monday, April 3.

Benjamin Frommer, Director of the Holocaust Educational Foundation of Northwestern University and Charles Deering McCormick Professor of Teaching Excellence
“Unmixing Marriage: Czecho-German and Jewish-Gentile Intermarried Families in Bohemia and Moravia, 1938-1948”
Frommer is a historian of twentieth-century Central and Eastern Europe. His work has focused on topics of genocide and ethnic cleansing, collaboration and resistance, transitional justice, and nationalism. He is the author of National Cleansing: Retribution against Nazi Collaborators in Postwar Czechoslovakia (New York: Cambridge University Press, 2005), which was published in Czech translation by Academia Publishers (Prague, 2010). His current book project, The Ghetto Without Walls: The Identification, Isolation, and Elimination of Bohemian and Moravian Jewry, 1938-1948, examines the wartime destruction of one of the world's most integrated and intermarried Jewish communities.
