Professor Suidnie White Crawford, Department of Classics and Religious Studies, will receive an honorary doctorate in theology from the University of Uppsala, Sweden at the end of January, 2018.

Professor Bedross Der Matossian has been elected president of the Association for Armenian Studies. he is serving as associate Director of the Harris Center for Judaic Studies for AY 2017-2018.

Professor Gerald Steinacher, Department of History, has been made a Distinguished Fellow of the Institut fur Zeitgeschichte (Institute for Contemporary History) in Munich for spring and summer 2018.

Professor Patrice McMahon, Department of Political Science, spent two weeks in Israel and at the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies in summer 2017. She is working on a book relating to NGOs dedicated to water security. 

Professors Ari Kohen and Gerald Steinacher have received a contract from the University of Nebraska Press to publish an edited volume on pedagogical aspects of Holocaust Studies. The book arises out of their national workshop, the Sommerhauser Workshop in Holocaust Education, which is held every two years. 

Professor Stephen Burnett has returned to campus after holding a Humboldt Fellowship and a fellowship from the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton last academic year. He is working on a biography of Luther, with special attention to the sources of Luther's antisemitism.
