Alanna Hoffman

Alanna HoffmanGlobal Studies, ’12

Alanna was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to teach English in South Korea (2012-13). As an undergraduate, she received a Harris Center Travel Scholarship to take an internship with American Jewish World Service in El Salvador. She plans to attend graduate school in East Asian studies.


Matthew BrittinghamReligious Studies, ’12

The recipient of the Harris Center’s 2011-12 Gotsdiner Scholarship, Matthew graduated with high distinction and is now a Master’s student in Jewish Studies at the University of Indiana-Bloomington.

Sarah FechFrench and Political Science, ’09

Sarah received her J.D. from the American University in Washington College of Law ('12). She is currently a JD Distinguished Fellow in University Legal Services at AU. As an undergraduate, Sarah served in student government, including Chair of the ASUN Government Liaison Committee. She was a 2008 finalist for the prestigious Truman Scholarship, awarded to college juniors dedicated to public sector careers. She has clerked for Legal Aid of Nebraska and interned with the ACLU and US Senator Ben Nelson.

Chaviva Galatz

Chaviva GalatzJournalism, ’06

Chaviva earned a Master’s Degree in Judaic Studies from University of Connecticut. She is now pursuing a second MA, in Education and Jewish Studies, at NYU. She is a social media maven and member of ROI, a global network of young Jewish innovators created by philanthropist Lynn Schusterman. Her blog posts (KvetchingEditor.com) are often featured on The Huffington Post. In 2011 she was named one of the New York Post’s "36 Under 36."


Lucas Schulte

Lucas SchulteReligious Studies, ’01

Lucas is a Ph.D. Candidate in Hebrew Bible at Claremont Graduate University. After graduating with honors from UNL, he went to Yale Divinity School, where he earned a Master’s Degree in Bible (’04). He has assisted in editing two volumes on the Dead Sea Scrolls and supervised volunteers on two archaeological excavations in Israel.


Kelly RamirezInternational Studies and Spanish, ’06

The recipient of the Harris Center’s 2005-06 Gotsdiner Scholarship, Kelly earned an MA in Human Rights and Humanitarian Assistance at the University of Denver's Korbel School of International Studies (’08). She has taught ESL, interned for an organization that assisted survivors of torture, coordinated services for refugee and immigrant adults learning English, and developed a pregnancy and postpartum support group for refugee mothers. She is now Student Services Coordinator at Spring Institute for Intercultural Learning.


Kyle NewfeldPsychology, ’09

Kyle is a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Service Coordinator at a private treatment facility in the greater Chicago area. He is also pursuing a Masters in Social Work (MSW) at Dominican University, River Forest, IL.

Sarah Smith

Sarah SmithJournalism, ’11

Sarah is Assistant Director for Communications for the Nebraska Alumni Association. As an undergraduate, she held internships and positions with former U.S. Senator Chuck Hagel, the Daily Nebraskan, Hand in Hand Center for Jewish-Arab Education in Israel, and Nebraskans for Civic Reform.


Emily Giller

Emily GillerJournalism and Advertising, ’12

Emily is Exhibits Coordinator and Media Planner at The University of Nebraska Press. As an undergraduate, she held an internship at The Jewish Press (Omaha).

Clifford SmolinskyComputer Science, ’07

Cliff attended UNL's Raikes School of Computer Science and Management. He is now a software development engineer working at Microsoft.
